The Dickies 873 takes the familiar workwear DNA of the 874 and pulls it into a slimmer, more modern shape. You still get that tough, structured Dickies feel, but with less room through the seat and thigh and a straighter, narrower leg that works just as well with skate shoes as it does with boots.
Built from hard-wearing poly-cotton twill, the 873 is made for everyday abuse and gets better once it has softened up with wear. They are a solid option if you like the classic Dickies look but find the 874 a little too roomy, giving you that same no-fuss work pant attitude in a more fitted silhouette.
Key Features
- Slim straight fit with less room through the seat and thigh than the 874
- Straight leg profile for a sharper, more fitted Dickies silhouette
- Durable poly-cotton twill built for everyday wear
- Classic workwear styling that crosses easily into skate and streetwear
- Belt loops, side pockets and rear welt pockets
- A good choice for anyone who likes Dickies construction but wants less pant than the 874
First Wear
Fresh Dickies can feel pretty stiff straight out of the packet, which comes from the firmer workwear twill. Give them a bit of wear and a couple of washes and they’ll soften up nicely while keeping the shape and durability that makes Dickies pants so dependable.
Size Chart
Use the measurements below to find your Dickies pants size. For the most accurate fit, take measurements over light clothing or underwear and keep the tape measure snug, but not tight.
- Waist: Measure around the smallest part of your waist.
- Hip: Measure around the fullest part of your hips and bottom.
- Inseam: Measure from the crotch straight down the inside of your leg to ankle height. Dickies pants use a 32" inseam unless otherwise stated.

About Dickies
Dickies has been making hard-wearing workwear since 1922, but by the 1980s it had found a second home in skate and street culture. Tough twill, roomy cuts and styles like the 874 and Double Knee made obvious sense for skaters.
By the 1990s, Dickies was everywhere. Tupac, Snoop Dogg and the Beastie Boys wore it, while skate, punk and hardcore scenes made the baggy workwear look their own.
More than a century on, the appeal is much the same: durable, practical gear with a genuine place in skate and street culture. That’s why Dickies still makes sense at Ballistyx.
