2026 GNU Velvet Snowboard

Smooth, Effortless, and Packed with Tech

The GNU Velvet is a freestyle-focused all-mountain board that’s smooth, pressable, and loaded with precision where you need it. Its C2 Hybrid Camber profile blends rocker between the feet with mild camber underfoot, creating a ride that locks into presses, pops with energy, and carves with confidence. The mid-soft flex (4.5/10) keeps things playful while still holding stability at speed.

The lightweight G Lite 2 core dampens chatter without dulling the board’s natural liveliness, making it ideal for flowing lines, clean landings, and surfy turns. Magne-Traction® edges bite into hardpack and ice, keeping you in control no matter the conditions. Plus, with GNU’s eco-friendly, hand-built construction, you’re riding something that’s as good for the planet as it is for your progression. Featuring artwork by Hannah Eddy (@hannaheddyart), the Velvet has a distinct look that matches its fun, free-spirited ride.

Key Features

  • Profile – C2 Hybrid Camber
Rocker between the feet keeps the Velvet forgiving, easy to pivot and more pressable, while camber underfoot adds pop, edge control and stability. It is a strong profile for riders who want freestyle freedom without losing support across the resort.

A soft to medium flex keeps the Velvet playful, forgiving and easy to manoeuvre, with enough backbone in the long

  • er sizes for stronger turns, faster laps and more confident freestyle riding.

Tech Features

  • G Lite 2 Core
An FSC certified aspen and paulownia wood core that keeps the board light, lively and durable. Aspen adds strength and pop, while paulownia helps reduce weight for easier handling.
  • Tri-Ax / Bi-Ax Glass
A blended fibreglass layup that adds strength, pop and torsional control, helping the Velvet stay stable while still feeling smooth and manageable underfoot.
  • Magne-Traction®
GNU’s serrated edge technology adds extra contact points along the sidecut, giving the Velvet stronger grip and more confidence on hardpack, ice and scraped-out resort snow.
  • Eco Sublimated Sintered Base
A fast, durable sintered base that absorbs wax well for longer-lasting glide and better speed when properly maintained.
  • Eco Sublimated Poly Topsheet
A durable topsheet made using a lower-waste sublimation process, helping reduce environmental impact while keeping the board’s finish tough.
  • UHMW Sidewalls
Ultra-high molecular weight sidewalls add impact resistance and durability, helping protect the board through park use, resort riding and everyday knocks.

About GNU

Handmade near Canada (in the USA) since 1977, GNU Snowboards has always done things differently—because snowboarding should be fun, creative, and a little weird. Together with their sister company Lib Tech, they pioneered rockered snowboard profiles with Banana Technology, revolutionizing the sport with a more playful, floaty, and forgiving ride. They also introduced Magne-Traction® serrated edges for unreal grip and continue to push boundaries with progressive shapes, experimental tech, and sustainable materials. Every GNU board is built by real snowboarders, keeping the brand’s rebellious spirit alive in every turn, slash, and send.
